Vanessa is a registered psychologist who is passionate about working with children and adolescents with a range of emotional, behavioural and interpersonal challenges. In addition to her clinical work, Vanessa works part-time as a research project officer where she is currently assisting with a project relating to autism spectrum disorders.
Vanessa previously worked at a private paediatric clinic where she provided comprehensive assessments and evidence-based interventions, and facilitated the Superflex social skills program. As an intern psychologist, Vanessa worked with 6-12 year olds at a university clinic, 12-18 year olds at an independent high school for girls and boys, and took part in facilitating the Cool Kids anxiety program and Engaging Adolescents program.
Prior to becoming a psychologist, Vanessa worked as an ABA therapist for young children with autism spectrum disorders. She also worked as a family practitioner in providing evidence-based parenting management skills to parents of children aged 0-5 with emerging social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Vanessa completed a Bachelor of Psychology (honours) at the University of Sydney and a Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Canberra. She works flexibly and collaboratively with children, adolescents and families to ensure that their needs are being met. Vanessa uses a combination of evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindful Self Compassion (MSC), and family therapy. Vanessa is also a certified facilitator of the Emotion Based Social Skills Training (EBSST) program for children with an autism spectrum disorder and/or a mild intellectual disability.
Vanessa is currently undertaking the Clinical Registrar Program, working toward becoming registered as a clinical psychologist in 2017.
